I hadn’t ever heard of Advent of Code before a couple of days ago, it’s a small programming puzzle each day and sounded pretty fun so I decided I would participate this year. Hopefully I stick with it and if I do I’ll post each day my solution. Basically it’s a speedrun programming competition so my solutions will probably be really ugly because you’re supposed to just do it as fast as possible – only the first 100 people to get the answer are awarded any points.
I really doubt I’ll get any points but I’ll try to post my solutions and times each day. The times will be awful because I’m not gonna stay up until midnight every night and because programming is more of a hobby of mine and not something I claim to be very good at. The first day’s I had to look up how to do math in bash just because I decided bash would be what I used and I don’t use math in it enough to even know how to add numbers…
I might revisit some of the problems later and post more elegant solutions if I have enough fun doing the competition.
